Active teaching approaches for the 2009 set sections
    Teachit.co.uk

    Romeo and Juliet KS3 pack

Produced in partnership with Devon Education Services

Our new KS3 pack for Romeo and Juliet will be available from the end of October.  It has video material, lesson plans and a range of other resources to support you in teaching the 2009 set sections:

    • video clips exploring the scenes in performance
    • lesson plans and resources, including whizzy activities
    • the set scenes in a parallel original and modern version
    • sample test questions
    • support on planning for the Y9 tests
    • suggestions for drama approaches to teaching Shakespeare.

The DVD shows students exploring the scenes through drama and the accompanying CD has lesson plans and resources with links to some of these activities. If you’re looking for ‘on-your-feet’ approaches to use with your students, you’ll find the activities illustrated on the DVD invaluable – and/or you can use the video clips in your lessons to help students explore the play in performance. There’s something for everyone.

The DVD is directed by Richard Durant, who produced last year’s Shaking Shakespeare and who wrote the activities sections for the latest Heinemann editions of The Tempest, Much Ado about Nothing and Romeo and Juliet. He is also one of Teachit’s most prolific contributors.

The lesson plans and resources on the CD have been written by Teachit contributors with the classroom firmly in mind. Wherever activities require plenty of space, practical ‘in your seat’ alternatives are suggested.

All the written materials in the pack are included on the CD. A photocopiable booklet is available as an optional extra for anyone who’d like a printed version of these materials.
