ARTESOL, TESOL Affiliate in Argentina, provides academic support for the First International Global Spelling Contest to be held at Centro Cultural Borges on May 9, 2009.

Franklin Electronic Publishers in cooperation with TESOL, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, will launch  the first international event of the Franklin Global Spell Event competition at the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on May 9, 2009.  The competition is designed for students fifteen years old and under who are learning English as a foreign language in select countries outside of the United States.  The participating countries are Argentina, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, and Turkey. The two top finalists from each country will then participate in the Inaugural Franklin Global SpellEvent Championship to take place in New York City in August 2009.  The champion at the final event will receive a scholarship valued at US $ 10,000

In Argentina, the participating schools are Colegio Champagnat, Instituto Euskal Echea, Colegio Boston, Instituto Sara Chamberlain de Eccleston, Escuela Normal Superior N°1 “Roque Sáenz Peña”, Escuela Normal Superior N°2 “Mariano Acosta”, Colegio Rainbow (Mendoza – Province of Mendoza), Colegio Nacional Buenos Aires and Colegio San Martin de Tours

It is an honor and a privilege for ARTESOL to have been invited by TESOL, the global association for English language teaching professionals, to partner in the organization of an event which will undoubtedly assist in furthering our students’ education.
