Teaching kids on TeachingEnglish
This part of the Teaching English site offers lots of tips and resources for using materials from the British Council’s LearnEnglish Kids website. Most of the materials can be used either online or printed off to be used in the classroom. Food, the body, weather, school and so much more. Visit!

On LCF’s PhonicsZone for EFL students there is a course – from learning and recognising sounds and letters, to practising multiple possible spellings of sounds. There are lots more useful activities, too, with downloadable flashcards and minitests to print. Plus a ‘Teacher Tools’ section. Ckoell!
The Online Dictionary of Language Terminology

Ian Fieggen has a special interest: shoelaces! On Ian´s Shoelace Site, he brings you ‘the fun, fashion & science of shoelaces’. Apart from ‘33 ways to lace your shoes’, other sections include crooked bows, an online length calculator, and even shoelace news stories. Knot interesting?
What is ‘Estuary English’?
John Wells shows how aspects of popular London speech have spread both geographically and socially. While many currently ask if we need ‘native-like’ pronunciation, he asks if we shouldn’t at least modernise ‘RP’ by allowing a little bit of EE. “To star’ with, le’ people use a few glottal stops”.

Editor argentino en la feria del libro de londres

Ramiro Villalba Garibaldi de AZ Editora es uno de los finalistas del concurso International Young Publishing Entrepreneur 09 – parte del programa de Jóvenes Emprendedores del British Council.  
 
En abril, Ramiro viajará al Reino Unido para realizar visitas a organizaciones y empresas relacionadas con la industria del libro y participar en la London Book Fair.

Joven argentino en el g20

Como parte de Global Changemakers - programa global del British Council – Juan Nascimbene de 17 años viajó al Reino Unido para participar en esta cumbre junto a otros 19 jóvenes de los países representados en el G20. El programa incluyó reuniones con el Primer Ministro Gordon Brown y los ministros de Relaciones Exteriores y de Economía. También el grupo se reunió con los presidentes de México e Indonesia y otros referentes internacionales. El objetivo de este evento de cinco días fue llevar la voz y la perspectiva de la juventud a esta cumbre en Londres.

British Council: Jovenes emprendedores de la industria musical

Hasta el 23 de enero 2009 podés presentarte para participar del Premio a Jóvenes Emprendedores Internacionales de la Industria Musical (IYME) que Incubator - el proyecto regional de música del British Council – está organizando en América Latina.

Dos representantes latinoamericanos viajarán al Reino Unido en mayo 2009 para participar, junto con otros siete finalistas internacionales en un tour de la industria musical británica y de London Calling.
Para elegirlos habrá una selección a nivel regional que contará 

con la participación de dos candidatos argentinos.

Te invitamos para Incubator

Queremos invitarte a la primera actividad en Argentina de Incubator    el proyecto regional de música del British Council.

 
Incubator presenta un tour de sellos indie británicos en Argentina, Brasil y Chile. El primero trae a Transgressive Records con Young Knives y Johnny Flynn.
 
El viernes 10 de octubre a las 18 en el Auditorio de El Ateneo, Florida 340, Toby L y Tim Dellow, fundadores del sello, participarán en un encuentro facilitado por el periodista Pablo Schanton sobre la industria discográfica independiente británica y el rol de Transgressive en la misma.
 
A la medianoche del mismo viernes Young Knives y Johnny Flynn realizarán sus presentaciones en vivo en Niceto, Niceto Vega 5510.
